He was predeceased by: his wife Frances Melicher (Mitchell); his parents, Walter Melicher and Florence Melicher (VanDuzer); his son Robert J. Melicher; and his brother Roland Melicher.

He is survived by: his child Stephen Melicher (Virginia) of Lynne Melicher; his grandchildren, Dawn Batchelor (Mark), Angela Pritchard (Colin), Nathaniel Freeman (Christina), Jennifer Freeman, Michael Melicher (Melissa) and William Melicher (Darya); and his sister Marilyn Kelso. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
