He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar and Celia Vela, Sr.; and his sister Josie Hernandez. He is survived by: his granddaughters, Brooklyn and Skylar; his children, Kristina Sullins (Jason) and Tim Vela; his siblings, John Vela, Guadalup "Petie" Vela (April) and Maria Ochoa (Rich); and his former wife Shirlee Vela. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
