We are sad to announce that on October 16, 2021, at the age of 88, Lois A. Smrekar of Shorewood, Illinois, born in Joliet, Illinois passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, William Pemble and Anna Pemble; her husband Edward; and her brothers, Wayne Pemble and Glenn Pemble (Carolyn).

She is survived by: her children, Mark Smrekar (Tina), Robert Smrekar (Mary), Alice Smrekar and Kris Smrekar (Deborah); and her nieces and nephews, Glenn and Phyllis Pemble. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to American Cancer Society would be appreciated.

“My condolences to all of Lois' family. I found out that she had passed through a Facebook post of another friend, and was shocked and saddened that she had passed. I had never met her in person, but knew Wayne quite well, and had met her brother, Glen, too. I also knew that she was the last one living in her direct family, and had visited her mother (my Aunt Anna Horvat Pemble) regularly. My sympathies, Cousin Tony Horvat”
