She was predeceased by: her parents, Clarence DeYoung and Grace DeYoung (Kooistra); her husbands, Robert Frejd and Charles Brehm; her son Donald Frejd; and her brother Richard DeYoung.

She is survived by: her sons, Russell (Sylvia) and William Frejd (Barbara); her grandchildren, Ashley Henderson (David), Robert Frejd (Sharon), Daniel Frejd and Derek Frejd (Taylor); her brothers, John, James (Patricia) and David DeYoung (Mary Ann); and her pet Bobbi.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Helen's name to Lightway's Hospice in Joliet.
