He was predeceased by: his parents, George Franklin Stoops and Allie Lavina O'Brien Stoops; his daughter Carol Annette Stoops; and his siblings, Ivan Stoops, James Floyd Stoops, Leslie Stoops (Red) and Betty Cunningham.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Lou Stoops of Shipman, IL; his children, David Stoops (Stacy) of Chesterfield, IL, Larry Stoops of Sanford, CO, Elaine Fullriede (Dave) of Edwardsville, IL and Becky Courtoise (Darren) of Piasa, IL; his grandchildren, Nikki Summers of Edwardsville, IL and Devin Stoops of Wood River, IL; his great grandchild Bella Summers of Edwardsville, IL; and his brother Bill Stoops (Joyce) of Shipman, IL. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Memorials are suggested to Donor's Choice, American Legion of Bunker Hill or SS Simon & Jude Church.
