It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John W. Downey of Sherman, Illinois, who passed away on June 27, 2023, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of John W. Downey to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Bill Downey and Mabel Downey (Beard); his brother Mike Downey; and his son-in-law Steve Becker. He is survived by: his wife Betty Downey; his children, Kerri Becker of Springfield, Diane Kirby (Jeff) of Mason City and John Downey (Lisa) of Sherman; his grandchildren, Rachel Conrey (Brian), Kevin Becker (April), Sam Kirby (Ashley), Elizabeth Downey and Sarah Downey; his great grandchildren, Paige, Kaden, Ella, Freya, Maverick and Thora; and his sister Barb Bradley. He is also survived by his family, especially his grandkids, great grandkids.

Memorials may be made to the Greenview AMVETS Post 179.
