He was predeceased by: his parents, George Thomas Sr. and Bertha Thomas (Price); his wife Rose Darlene Thomas; and his son-in-law Neal Burris. He is survived by: his children, Dennis Thomas of Springfield, Diane Burris of Sherman and Richard Thomas (Angie) of Bloomington; his niece Dorothy Nelson; his grandchildren, Jason Thomas, Ashley Kennedy (Nick), Kevin Burris (Glenda Huston), Keith Burris, Andrew Thomas and Rachel Thomas (Joseph Plummer); and his great grandchild Ava Kennedy. He is also survived by several other nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Disabled Veterans National Foundation or their local V.F.W. Post.
