He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon "Jiggs" Helton, Jr. and Alice Ruth Helton (Bare); and his brothers, Michael Vernon Helton and Stephen Franklin Helton. He is survived by: his wife Toni Helton of Shelbyville; his children, Kristi Marie Probst (Jason) of Park Falls, WI, Benjamin Richard Helton (Sarah) of Allenton, WI, Adam Douglas Helton (Christina) of Lee's Summit, MO and Caroline Alyse Helton (Devin Scheidemantel) of Champaign, IL; his adoptive daughter Britany Carver (James) of Urbana, IL; and his grandchildren, Simeon, Elias, Isaiah Probst, Elizabeth, Nathanael, Wyatt, Harper Helton, Brigid, Henry Scheidemantel, Jacy and Ainsley Carver.
Visitation was held on Sunday, January 12th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Calendar First Christian Church (202 S Broadway St, Shelbyville, IL 62565). A memorial service was held on Sunday, January 12th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the First Christian Church (202 S Broadway St, Shelbyville, IL 62565).
Memorials may be given to Little Galilee Christian Camp, Clinton, IL.
