With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Elmer D. Ruff of Shelbyville, Illinois, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on August 29, 2024 at the age of 80. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Elmer D. Ruff to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Oliver and LaVonne Ruff (Polly); his wife Vickii Ruff; and his sisters, Daisy, Claudette, Helen, Ruth and Ann.

He is survived by: his son Chad Ruff (Rhonda) of Bradenton, FL; his siblings, Lloyd Ruff of Fancher, IL, Danny Ruff of Fancher, IL, Donna Switzer of Port Orchard, WA and Mary Connor of Stewardson, IL; his close friend LeeAnn Beckman-Warner; his daughter Tracey; his granddaughter Dylann Hayes; and his grandson-in-law Mason. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be given to: VFW Post #4829 for The Land of Lincoln Honor Flight.

“Elmer was a friend of mine for many, many years. We covered a lot of miles together, some of which if they had been scrutinized closely, would have gotten us both thrown in jail. Elmer was one of the founding members of the Southtown Social Club and Benevolent Society and I will miss him but remember the many adventures we had together.”
