He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry L. Olsen Barton and Julia; his siblings, Kenneth, Harley Barton, Lois Smith, Gladys Riggs (Susie), Raymond and Shirley; and his great grandchild Carly Nicholas.
He is survived by: his wife Beverly Thompson; his children, Diane Girdler (David), Denise Arnold (Gaile) and David Barton (Gail) of Appleton, WI; and his grandchildren, Ben Nicholas (Janet), Michael Nicholas (Tracy), Julia Proctor (Ronnie), Josh Arnold (Kate), Aleisha Barton (Nate Kleist) and Aaron Barton (Clare Hartjes). He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren; 5 step-great-grandchildren; 2 great great grandsons; 1 great great granddaughter; and 2 step great great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sheffield United Methodist Church, Sheffield-Mineral Rescue Unit, or Sheffield Historical Society.
