It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Elmer Groen (Shannon, Illinois), born in Freeport, Illinois, who passed away on April 5, 2018, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, George Groen and Helen Groen (Griffith); and his brother Walter. He is survived by: his wife Dorothy; his children, Rick Groen (Betty) and Dawn Collman (John); his grandchildren, Shawn Groen (Dee), Shelby Johnson (Curt), Kara Howell (Kevin), Gretta Clapp (Dennis), Ben Collman and Hannah Collman; and his great grandchildren, Gage, Madelyn, Alaina, Luke, Reece and Mya.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for FHN Hospice and Shannon American Legion.
