He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Andrew and Myrta Newbury (Nowland); his son James Walter Newbury; his son-in-law Mike Piper; and his grandson Brian Piper.
He is survived by: his wife Wanda Elizabeth Newbury (Laird); and his children, David Wallace Newbury (Michele) of Sesser, Illinois and Barb Piper of Mount Vernon, Illinois. He is also survived by six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made in Walter's honor to Horse Prairie Cemetery.
