He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles A. Smith and Marie Smith (Moore); his wife Nancy Williams Smith (Skip); and his brothers, Dallas Smith and Ray Smith.

He is survived by: his children, Roy Smith, Jr. of Herrin, Sheila Lynn Ramsey (Ryan) of Sesser and Travis Smith (Misty) of Sesser; his grandchildren, Alec Smith (Jayla), Bethanie Smith, Kaleb Pierce, Danielle Pierce, Darien Smith and Courtney Smith; and his great grandchildren, Kenlynn Smith, Remington Smith, Finley Smith, Pharoh Brown and Empress Brown.
