He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Jessie Lemons Whitecotton and William "Ottis" Whitecotton; his brother Wright Whitecotton; his stepfather Eldon Hinshaw; and his siblings, Patsy, Danny (Doris), Terry (Becky), Ken Hinshaw (Bonnie), Judy Curtin, Deborah Mehlberg (Steve) and Jeffery Hinshaw. He was also cherished by three aunts, numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces.
