He was predeceased by: his sisters, Ethel and Irene; his son Mark; and his wife Shirley. He is survived by: his children, Frank Merkendorfer (Carrie), Kurt Merkendorfer (Sandy) and Tracy Evans (Steve); his grandchildren, Franz Merkendorfer (Cecilia), Suzette Cuellar (Chris), Ryan Gribbens (Rebecca), Kurtie Merkendorfer, Zach Merkendorfer, Brynn Tijerina and Sofia Evans; and his great grandchildren, Marc Gribbens, Leighton Merkendorfer and Franzie Merkendofer.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 24th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Sax-Tiedemann Funeral Home (9568 W Belmont Ave, Franklin Park, IL 60131). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 25th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 25th 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the Eden's Cemetery.
