With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Melvin Kabat of Scheller, Illinois, who passed away on January 16, 2025 at the age of 85. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his sister Mary Ann Kabat. He is survived by: his wife Louise Kabat of Scheller; his children, Mark Kabat (Lori), John T. Kabat (Marcia), Lois Herzing (Bobby) of Scheller, Mary Kozuszek (David) of Scheller and Helen Young (Kabat) of Galisteo; his grandchildren, Jordan Kabat (Chloe) of Saint Charles, Brock Kabat (Judith) of Louisville, Courtney Kabat of Christopher, Jacob Kabat of Saint Louis, Erika Kitowski (Avery) of Scheller, Alicia Ward (Martin) of Akin, Hannah Herzing of Nicholasville, Julia Herzing of Lexington, Adam of Scheller, Sarah of Scheller and Clara Kozuszek of Scheller; and his great grandchildren, Clark, Archie Kabat, Alden, Austin and Alivia Kitowski.
A prayer was held on Sunday, January 19th 2025 at 3:15 PM at the Saint Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church - Mount Vernon (1500 N Main St, Mt Vernon, IL 62864). Visitation was held on Sunday, January 19th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Monday, January 20th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM. A Mass was held on Monday, January 20th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the St. Barbara Catholic Church (4281 N Scheller Ln, Scheller, IL 62883).
Memorials may be made in Melvin's honor to Saint Barbara Church, Saint Barbara Cemetery, or Saint Mary School.
