He was predeceased by: his wife Betty Lu Sauer; his son John Sauer; his parents, Wiliam Sauer and Hildur Sauer; and his brother Richard Sauer (late Emily).

He is survived by: his children, Laurie Warfield (late Robert) and Kathy Welk; his grandchildren, Justin (Staci), Mitch (Kiara) and Lindsey; and his great grandchildren, Cam, Kenzie, Marley and Lainey.
