She was predeceased by: her parents, Elmer Bash and Alice Bash; and her sister Shirley Rittenhouse. She is survived by: her husband Donald Whitsitt; and her children, Steve Whitsitt (Ruby), Karen Russon (Craig), Lori Ellis (Brian) and Scott Whitsitt (Oksana).
Initiated in her garage in 1980, she founded the nonprofit, Lifeline Pilots, where civilian pilots donated their time, fuel, and airplanes to transport sick passengers to receive medical treatment far from home as well as other humanitarian missions.
