With profound sadness, we say goodbye to John Bagby in Savoy, Illinois, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. John left this world on May 30, 2024 at the age of 92, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. Though John may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those John touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Alvin and Mary Bagby (Banks); and his sister Isabelle Ferris of Bushnell, IL.. He is survived by: his wife Beatrice Hill of Champaign; and his sons, Roy (Karen) of Portsmouth, VA, John D. of Thornton, CO, Timothy (Laurie) of Urbana and Rex of St. Joseph. He is also survived by three grandsons, seven granddaughters, and nineteen great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are invited for the University of Illinois Foundation, 303 St. Mary's Road, Champaign IL 61820 for deposit into The John F. and Beatrice H. Bagby Endowment Fund for the benefit of international educational programs in Eastern Cape South Africa.
