She was predeceased by: her parents, James Griffin and Pearl Griffin (Clouser); and her son Timothy Gates. She is survived by: her husband Gordon E. Gates; and her children, Tonda Hartle (Doyle), Taylor Christman (Randy) and James Gates (Carmela). She is also survived by 6 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, January 11th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the East Lawn Funeral Home (1102 Airport Rd, Bloomington, IL 61704).

Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church of Bondville, near Champaign, of which she was a member.
