James J. Gottberg Sr. Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James J. Gottberg Sr. (Sandwich, Illinois), born in Aurora, Illinois, who passed away on January 6, 2023 at the age of 74. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Gottberg and Mabel Gottberg (Watkins); his siblings, La Vern, Herbert, Gregory Gottberg and Mary Gottberg; and his mother-in-law Patricia Van Kirk.
He is survived by: his wife Denise Lynn Van Kirk; his son Kyle GottbergSr (Scott); his grandson Kyle Gottberg Jr. (Tessa Beyer); his great grandchildren, Wesley Scott Gottberg and Kimberly Carmen Gottberg; his grandson Mason Gottberg; his son Jim Gottberg Jr. (Dawn); his sister Melody Kane (Richard); and his sister-in-law Susan Manenti (Paul Dubinski, family: Nancy Van Kirk, Sandra Hall).
Denise would like to thank the Sandwich Paramedics, friends, prayer warriors and Unity Hospice for their compassionate care and support during Jim's courageous twenty year journey. And a special thanks to Laurie (Phillips) Chase for her testimony of faith and kindness to Jim through the valley of trials. (Psalm 23), In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
