He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Edward, Sr. and Venita Irene Johnston (Hobbs); and his siblings, Susie Keller and Robert Edward "Bob" Johnston, Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Ruth Ann Garren; his children, Michael Allen Johnston II of Sandoval and Jaime Toedte (John) of Centralia, Illinois; his grandchildren, Natalie Toedte, Lacy Toedte and Brent Toedte; and his siblings, Terry Johnston (Mystee) of Central City, John Johnston (Tonya) of Central City, Illinois and Polly Johnston (Kathleen) of Centralia. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Johnston's honor to the Centralia/Central City Lions Club, Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Southern Illinois or Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and will be received by the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home at 134 South Elm Street in Centralia, Illinois.
