She was predeceased by: her parents, Edward Harmsen and Katie Harmsen (Rademaker); her husband John R. Smith; her siblings, Margaret Osborn of Hartsburg, Ada Beam of El Paso, Texas and Orville Harmsen of Emden; and her grandson Tyler John Smith of San Jose.
She is survived by: her children, Donald Smith (Judy) of San Jose, Debra Nowicki (Mitch) of Naperville and Mary Shepherd (Stan) of St. Peters, Missouri; and her grandchildren, Megan Plackett (Jeff) of Naperville, Erin Drake (Steve) of Benton, Missouri, Maggie Hill (Seth) of Naperville, Mitch Nowicki (Melanie) of Manhattan and Craig Shepherd (Jaime) of Wentzville, Missouri. She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
In lieu of flowers the family would like you to consider a memorial to San Jose United Methodist Church or First Church Sustaining fund.
