With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Sam uel George Hiestand of Salem, Illinois, who passed away on October 21, 2022 at the age of 95. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude B. Hiestand and Ruby Mae Hiestand (Leckrone); his daughter June Bookhout; and his siblings, Ralph, Dan, Walter Hiestand, Marjorie Deadmond and Martha June Robinson.
He is survived by: his wife Nellie Brasel; his children, Dennis Hiestand (Linda) of Alma, Joanne Luttrell (Bill) of Salem, Jean Jones (Randy) of New Baden and Mark Hiestand (Connie) of Salem; and his son-in-law David Bookhout of Salem. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
The family suggest memorials be made to the Summit Prairie Cemetery and will be accepted by the funeral home.
