Freda Maxedon Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Freda Maxedon (Salem, Illinois), who passed away on February 23, 2018 at the age of 91. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Freda Maxedon to pay them a last tribute.
Survivors include: Sons Glenn (Tracy) Maxedon and Ted (Sharon) Maxedon, of Mt Vernon, and Dale, of Murphysboro; daughters Joyce (Cecil) McWhorter, of Salem; Jean Shehorn, of Xenia and Judy (the late Landon) Rankin, of Kell; grandchildren Tonya Maxedon, Ashley Sweeten, Austin Maxedon, Shannon Russell, Dustin Troutt, Brad Rankin, Brent Rankin, Trey Maxedon, Doug, Kay and Gary McWhorter; 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great granddaughters; a brother Albert Fager of DeSoto; faithful Chihuahua Missy; family friend Charles Steckenrider, and her devoted "nanny, Nancy Reed.
Freda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 54 years, an infant daughter, brothers Harlan and James and son-in-law Landon Rankin. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Wednesday with Rev. Milton Bost officiating, in Pettett Funeral Home, where visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm Wednesday. Burial will be in the Zion Cemetery, in rural Murphysboro, very near her childhood home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Zion Cemetery Fund, at either Pettett Funeral Home or Roger-Atkins Funeral Home in Salem.
