He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Forbes and Ruth Forbes (Sarver); his siblings, Helen, Barbara, Hadley and Darrell; his sister-in-law Shirley Forbes; his daughter Angie Wright; and his grandson Buck Goodman.

He is survived by: his wife Susie Forbes; his children, Marvin L. Forbes, Jr. and Tammy Goodman (Delbert) of St. Elmo, Illinois; his grandchildren, Amanda Garrison, Christopher Garrison (Claudia), Thomas Forbes (Shyan), Georgette Forbes, Adana Saucedo (Rafeal), Kayla Warren, Ariel Rountree (Terry), Sydney Crum (Johnny), Shauna Goodman, Miles Goodman (Kayla) and Jennie Goodman; his siblings, Beulah Ross (Harold), Paul Forbes, Mary Lou Jennings (Leslie), Elaine Lilly (Greg), Sue Scholes (Roger), Dot Austin (Bob), Faye Williams (Virgil), Bertha Mae Wright (Kevin) and Bob Forbes (Linda); and his sister-in-law Roberta Forbes. He is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren.
