He was predeceased by: his parents, John Freeman and Alta F Fern Griggs (Studder); his siblings, Joe Griggs, Jimmie Griggs, Jacob Griggs and Joan Cole; and his brothers-in-law, Stanley Cravens and William Cole.
He is survived by: his children, Jake Griggs of St. Elmo, Illinois, Rachel Faye Evans (Clint) of Brownstown and Sara Kay Griggs (Brannon) of St. Elmo, Illinois; and his siblings, Jack Griggs (Carol) of Fort Wayne, Gene Griggs of Altamont, Jerry Griggs of Altamont, Illinois and Janice Cravens of Tower Hill, Illinois. He is also survived by four grandchildren.
