He was predeceased by: his parents, Glen Brasel and Dola Brasel (Chasteen); his brother Denton Brasel; and his brothers-in-law, Sam Hiestand and Dick Deadmond.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy Deadmond; his children, Robert 'Bob' Brasel (Sherry) of Farina, Brad Brasel (Julie) of Shobonier and Barbara Grobengieser (Eric) of Altamont; his sisters, Nellie Hiestand of Salem, Clara Deadmond of Altamont and Linda Robb (Maurice) of Kinmundy; and his grandchildren, Kendall Bergman (Rob), Justin Brasel (Jessica), Klayton Brasel (Micah), Kelcie Sundburg (Ryan), Casey Welcher (Ethan), Cody Logan (Emily), Amy Rippetoe (Jason), Anthony Grobengieser (Jessica) and Adam Grobengieser (Jennifer). He is also survived by 17 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Crossroads Cancer Center, Effingham, Shriner's Hospital for Children, St. Elmo Christian Church or the donor's choice.
