She was predeceased by: her parents, Hobart M. Bates and Mattie B. Bates (Garrett); her husband Phillip Rhodes; and her brother McKinley Bates. She is survived by: her children, Steven Rhodes (Scott Edmonds) of Chicago, Illinois and Phyllis Lea (Prentiss) of Libertyville, Illinois; and her grandchildren, Soo Jin Lea and Chae Rin Lea of Libertyville, Illinois..

Memorials may be made to the Historical Vandalia Museum or the donor's choice.
