He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Cass and Erna Cass (Taken); and his brother-in-law Doug Peterson. He is survived by: his wife Mary Van Winkle; his sons, Jerry Jr. Cass (Sara), Matthew Cass (Heather), Jeffrey Cass and Brad Cass (Alyson); and his siblings, Judy Swanson (David), Joan Peterson, Janet Frank (Art), Joyce Cass, Jean Frolander (John) and Jim Cass (Luella). He is also survived by many grand children and great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
