He was predeceased by: his parents, Elbert Barthel and Lucile Keckler Barthel; his siblings, Calvin Barthel, Donald Barthel, Harold Barthel, Paul Barthel and Alice Blasing; and his son David Barthel.
He is survived by: his daughter Kathy; his son-in-law Bill Evans of Elk City; his brothers, Kenneth (Thelma Barthel), Charles Barthel and Chris Barthel (Wieman) of Freeport, IL.; and his son Lyle (Carol). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
