He was predeceased by: his parents, Reed Carey and Maude Mae Carey (White); his wife Thelma Ann Cox; his son Randy Carey; his granddaughter Mindy Koch; and his siblings, Alma Allison, Iva Brown and James Carey.
He is survived by: his children, Lynn Carey (Sue) of Rushville, Mike Carey (Nita) of Rushville, Kathy Eckroy (Bill) of Rushville and Debbie Fuqua (Steve) of Rushville; his daughter-in-law Karen Carey; and his siblings, Melvin Robert Carey (Doris) of Rushville, Mary Peterson (Dave) of Avon and Patty Wellenkamp (Roger) of Beardstown. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren.
