He was predeceased by: his parents, George Roy and Alice Ann Hindman McPherson; and his sister Georgie McDonald. He is survived by: his wife Jeanette McPherson of Rural Mansfield, Illinois; his children, Mickey Jay McPherson of Urbana, Illinois and Vicki Elder (John) of Minnesota; and his grandson Casey J. McGarry of Oklahoma.
