He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Clyde and Lucille Ellen Swain (Shuping); his wife Donna June Swain (Lawrence); his son William Swain; his sister Neola Wood; and his brothers-in-law, John Wood, Bill Gray and Carlos McCurdy.
He is survived by: his children, Shonna Gooden (Carl) of Herrin, Steve Swain (Hazel) of Carterville and Gary Swain (Jessica) of Royalton; his daughter-in-law Carrie Swain; his grandchildren, Kimberly Messamore, Curtis Messamore III (Cynthia), Madison Fulford (Matt), Hannah Swain, Zack Swain, Brittany Swain, Kaitlyn Swain, Emily Swain, Jace Swain, Landon Swain, Hadley Curtwright and Lillian Jordan; his great grandchildren, Adeline Messamore, Skyleigh Messamore, Brantley Fulford and Ashleigh Russell; his sister Wilma McCurdy of Royalton; and his sister-in-law Phyllis Gray of Hartford. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
