He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth W. Nelson and Norma J. Nelson (Coons); his granddaughter Samantha Nelson; and his sisters, Donna Martin and Kenna Sue Roberson.

He is survived by: his children, Cathy Toner (Ted) of Rosewood Heights, Ron Nelson, Jr. of Wood River, Ken Nelson of Smithville, TN, Joey Nelson (Tammy) of Monterey, TN, Kimberly Ludwig of Yorktown, VA and Don Nelson (Diana) of Liberty, TN; his grandchildren, Ashley Kamp (Nate), Jessica Rowell (Michael), Jake Toner (Jessica), Zach Toner, Eric Nelson, Christian Nelson, Sydney Nelson, John Tyler Ludwig, Jordan Ludwig and Nick Bramlet; his great grandchildren, Keegan Rowell, Reese Rowell, Everly Rowell, Sutton Rowell, Kendall Kamp, Karsyn Kamp, Knox Kamp, Jocelyn Toner, Nora Toner, Sophia Nelson and Maddie Clark; and his brother Richard Nelson (Donna) of Columbia, IL. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be given to the American Heart Association, the Alzheimer's Association, or Siteman Cancer Center.
