She was predeceased by: her parents, Harry D. Carter and Elizabeth C. Carter (Allen); her daughter Beth Ellen Moss; and her siblings, Neal Carter and Janice Carter.

She is survived by: her children, Gavin Murphy of Roxana, Shawn Murphy, Kacey Schmidt of Jerseyville and Tammy Holland. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
