He was predeceased by: his wife Hilda Luby; and his sisters, Marie Molidor and Helen Thumboe. He is survived by: his sons, Edward W. Luby, Jr. and Joseph H. Luby; and his grandchildren, Natasha North (Brian) and Joshua Luby (Susan). He is also survived by five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
