She was predeceased by: her daughter Elizabeth "Libby" Clark (Jim); her husband Daniel Nicholas; her parents, Loren Whitehead and Harriet Whitehead; and her brother John B. Whitehead.
She is survived by: her children, Scott Nicholas (Sue), David Nicholas (Pam) and Julia Zimmerman (Brad); her grandchildren, Danny (Shana), Adam, Kelly (Dan Moore), Rebecca, Whitney (Chris Vigil), David (Emily), Allison (Tom Richter) and Lindsey; and her sister Jeanie (Reese).
Visitation was held on Friday, November 15th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Fred C. Olson Chapel (1001 2nd Ave, Rockford, IL 61104). A memorial service was held on Saturday, November 16th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church (412 N Church St, Rockford, IL 61103).
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ruth's honor may be made to Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens.
