It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Richard L. Stenlund of Rockford, Illinois, who passed away on February 14, 2025, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As Richard departs from our midst, his spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Richard. Though Richard may no longer walk beside us, his legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Rudolph Stenlund and Teckla Stenlund (Nygren); and his wife Gloriadee Stenlund (Burden). He is survived by: his children, Kirstin Stenlund, Mark Stenlund, Kelly Stenlund, Richard Stenlund Jr. (Maria), ChrisAnthony C. Shields, Timothy A. Shields (Jennifer) and Zachery M. Burden (Sabrina); and his aunt Doris Noreen. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life was held on Thursday, February 20th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory (1860 S Mulford Rd, Rockford, IL 61108). The military honors was held on Thursday, February 20th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the Machine Shed Restaurant (7475 E State St, Rockford, IL 61108).
