He was predeceased by: his daughter Corrine Hoover; his stepmother Dorothy; and his stepbrothers, Bill Carey and Steven Farr. He is survived by: his father Albert Hoover; his wife Patty; his children, Cindy (Damon), White of Rockford, Rob Hoover (Linda) of Tonica, Chrissy Rosquist (Lance) of Byron and Rodney "Hot Rod" Hoover (Courtnie) of Rockford; his grandchildren, Angel Shockey (Andrew Holst), Brandon Shockey, Dylan White (Jaretzy), Gage Hoover, Megan Hoover, Steven Clankie, Katelyn Clankie, Maddy Rosquist, Miranda Lingelbach, Dillon Lingelbach and Ethan Hoover; his great grandchildren, Jaxon, Hunter, Scarlett, Dexter and Colton; his siblings, Valerie Smith (Dannie), Robin Fenion, Sherman Hoover and Shawn Hoover (Debi); and his stepsiblings, Mike, Paula, Laurie and Kathy.
