He was predeceased by: his parents, Mark Balkcom and Virginia Balkcom; his aunt Thelma; and his uncle Ike Balkcom. He is survived by: his wife Sally Balkcom (Middleton); his son David Balkcom (Michelle); his grandchildren, Ryan Compton, Megan Compton, Erin Compton of Westmont, IL, Julian Balkcom, Adrian Balkcom and Damian Balkcom of New Hyde Park, NY.; his half-sisters, Beverly Balkcom Ramsey (John David) of Winter Haven, FL and Virginia Balkcom Bond (Del); and his cousin Kitty Sue Childers (Norman) of Lutz, Florida..
