He was predeceased by: his parents, Stanley Carlson and Julia Pearl Carlson (Matthews); his brother Larry; and his brother-in-law Harry. He is survived by: his wife Marcia Matthiesen; his children, David, Jennifer Gierke (Sam) and Andrew (Jeanna); his grandchildren, Jack, Allyson, Katelyn Gierke (Jennifer), Henry and Finn Carlson (Andrew); his sisters, Lois Dament (James) and Linda Ohlson; and his sister-in-law Linda Carlson. He is also survived by seven nieces; eight nephews; along with many other friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, April 12th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Berean Baptist Church (5626 Safford Rd, Rockford, IL 61101). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 12th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, April 12th 2025 at 12:15 PM at the Scandinavian Cemetery (1700 Rural St, Rockford, IL 61107).
