He was predeceased by: his wife Joann E. Filling. He is survived by: his children, Scott Hartwig (Kathy), Jennifer Maney (John) and Brian Hartwig (Gretchen); his grandchildren, Heather Hoekstra (Mike), Emily Vanhille (Sean), Samantha Hartwig, Andrew Hartwig (Leorena), Evan Hartwig (Mackenzi) and Eric Hartwig; his great grandchildren, Johanna, Holland Hoekstra, Connor Vanhille, Grayson Stoffregen and Lettie Hartwig; and his sisters, Karen Calliotte and Beverly Reiling.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Riverside Community Church.
