John E. Rossato Sr. Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of John E. Rossato Sr. (Rockford, Illinois), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 11, 2025 at the age of 97. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, John Rossato and Bessie Rossato (Gibbs); his wife Marilyn McGinnis; his daughter Deborah Bambino; his son-in-law Darrell Kolhoff; his siblings, James "Dewey" Rossato, Katherine Dettman (Donald) and Sandra Torrence; and his close friend Shirley Johnson.
He is survived by: his children, John "Jack" (Rae Ann) and Nancy Kolthoff; his grandchildren, Jennifer Rossato, John Peter Rossato (Megan), Darrell Kolthoff Jr. (Karen), David Kolthoff, Sheila Andrus (Blake), Melissa Hillman (Scott), Russell Bambino III (Melissa) and John Edward Bambino (Erin); his great grandchildren, Gabriella "Gabbi", Mia, John Michael, Kassandra (Matt), Alex (Kim), James (Danielle), Marilyn, Allison and Danielle; his great great grandchildren, Virginia "Rosie" and Zayne; and his brother Carl Rossato (Judith).
Visitation was held on Sunday, February 16th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory (3910 N Rockton Ave, Rockford, IL 61103). A funeral service was held on Monday, February 17th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Roscoe Post 2955 or to an organization of the donor's choice.
