He was predeceased by: his parents, Lowell McCollom and Irene McCollom (Tulip); his brother Robert McCollom; and his brother-in-law Paul Sherbon. He is survived by: his wife Melvadine "Mel" McCollom; his children, Aaron, Brian McCollom (Amy), Wendy Breit (Patrick), Gary Mooney (Stacy) and Timothy Mooney (Janet); his granddaughter Madisen Sharma (Milan); his great grandchild Rivan; his grandchildren, Mahlon McCollom and Brittany Sparacino (Anthony); his great grandchildren, Lacie and AJ; his grandsons, Derek Breit (Samantha), Brandon Mooney (Bridgette Jacobs), Justin, Zachary, Connor, Ryan and Kyle Mooney; his sister Judy Sherbon; his nephews, Anthony Sherbon (Tonsha) and Joe Sherbon; his sister-in-law Sandi McCollom; his nephew Luke McCollom; and his niece Bekka McCollom.
Visitation was held on Thursday, March 13th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory (1860 S Mulford Rd, Rockford, IL 61108). A burial was held on Friday, March 14th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the New Milford Cemetery (2685 New Milford School Rd, Rockford, IL 61109).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in David's name to a local charity.
