She was predeceased by: her parents, Larry Nelams and Lena Nelams (Easley); her sisters, Barbara Bea and Helen Sims; her grandchildren, William Jones and Charlat'Jones; and her great grandchild Carter Atkins.
She is survived by: her children, Roderick Atkins, Wayne Atkins (Eva) and Mika Atkins-Jacobs (Stephen); her grandchildren, Roderick Atkins II, Angela Wilson, Crystal Jones, Michael Jones, Katrina Jones, Christopher Atkins and Corey Jacobs; her sister Dellena Ballard (George); and her brother-in-law Frank Atkins (Eddie Mae). She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins.
Visitation was held on Monday, March 17th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. (3030 7th Ave, Rock Island, IL 61201). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, March 18th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory (3030 7th Ave, Rock Island, IL 61201). A burial was held on Tuesday, March 18th 2025 at the Chippiannock Cemetery (2901 12th St, Rock Island, IL 61201).
