He is survived by: his parents, Fred "Pete" and Rita Heeren of Princeton; his children, Jody Heeren (Kevin Shook) of Rock Falls, Heather Bertolozzi of Sterling, Andrew Heeren (Jenny Roberts) of Rock Falls, Terry Heeren of Rock Falls and Jerry Heeren of Peoria; his sisters, Penny Transou (Joe) of Ohio, IL and Paula Hays (Dennis) of Hoopole; his brother-in-law Jack Transou of Princeton; his grandchildren, Tabitha Nash, Sebastian Heeren, Jadie Smith, Gavin Smith, Jaycee Roberts, Rilley Kalra, Kaitlyn Shook, Shylynn Shook and Harper Rita Heeren; and his sister Peggy Transou.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
