He is survived by: his parents, Lowell DeGroot and Arlene DeGroot (Shuman); his children, Christine DeGroot (Keith Bardoner) of Rock Falls, Jamie DeGroot (Dacia Nelson) of Sterling, Donna Smith (Shae) of Rock Falls and Nick DeGroot of Rock Falls; his grandchildren, Dawson, Bryson, Hunter, Dominic and Donovan; and his brothers, Jerry DeGroot (Tina) of Rock Falls, Larry DeGroot of Rock Falls, Chris DeGroot (Donna) of Lanark and Craig DeGroot of Rock Falls.
