He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Shipman and Marcia Shipman (McKee) of New City; his son John Jr.; his grandchildren, Tom Acton Jr. and Erica Walls; and his siblings, Frances Mottar, Harold, Leslie and Charles Shipman.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Mohler; his daughters, Linda McIntyre (Greg Wacaser), Brenda Acton (Tom) of Chatham and Janet Carlson of Springfield; and his grandchildren, Andria Wentzel (Doug), Rachel McIntyre, Lisa Medbery (Jarod) and Joe Acton (Hannah). He is also survived by three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
