He was predeceased by: his parents, William Kester and Ada Kester (Moeller). He is survived by: his wife Diane L. Modloff of Rochelle; his children, Brian Kester (Nancy) of Byron, IL, Darrin Kester (Penny) of Sterling, IL and Deanne Mittlesteadt (Doug) of Montgomery, TX; his grandchildren, Amanda, Danny Kester (Melanie), Steven Kester (Shawna), Stephanie Chappell (Brett), Sarah and Erik Mittlesteadt; his great grandchildren, Aleena, Jameson Kester, Clifford VI and Evangeline Bolt; and his sister Charlotte Davenport. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made in Truman's memory to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Serenity Hospice and Home.
